A rich
heritage

The Sandwich based site has been an important centre of pharmaceutical research and development for almost 70 years, when Pfizer first acquired it in 1954. It has an excellent track record of discovering new medicines to improve the health and quality of life of people suffering from critical diseases with some of Pfizer’s most important medicines discovered here. They include Celsentri® (maraviroc); Revatio® (sildenafil); Diflucan (fluconazole); Vfend® (voriconazole); Istin (amlodipine); Cardura (doxazosin); and Viagra® (sildenafil).

Despite selling the site in 2012, Pfizer remains an integral part of the Discovery Park community, employing over 1,000 scientists, technicians, regulatory professionals and business experts all working towards creating life-saving medicines for patients.

“The site provides major contributions to Pfizer’s pipeline and our development of breakthrough medicines for patients globally. We look forward to working closely with the Discovery Park team to ensure the site continues to be a leading life sciences park and an incubator for scientific innovation and digital technology.”

Julian Thompson , VP, Pfizer Global Regulatory Operations and Sandwich Site Head on the LSOZ designation.
