Alister Hume has over 25 years experience of the town planning profession. His career started in Local Government with the Planning Department of Thanet District Council in East Kent.
He then worked for Chapman Warren (now part of the RPS group) a private planning consultancy working nationally with a range of blue chip clients. During this period of his career, he gained invaluable experience with an organisation with a very positive culture of trying to “make things happen”.
He was then appointed as the Strategic Land Manager of Hillreed Homes by the then largest privately owned housebuilder in Kent (Since October 2012 Hillreed now forms part of the Persimmon Group). This appointment allowed a crucial understanding of the wider factors which affect the practical delivery of development which included scheme viability and option negotiations with landowners.
In 2001, Hume Planning Consultancy was formed with a focus on providing sound independent commercial advice to assist with the delivery of development projects.
