Job Description:

Engaging with and building effective relationships with departmental leads and suppliers, the Procurement Manager will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and buying goods, materials, and services to ensure the company’s operational needs are met, taking account of price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply and/or operational delivery.

You will:

  • Work across departments to source materials, ensuring that systems are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality, and delivery targets.
  • To be a central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders for the purchase of spares, small capital items, and service orientated contracts
  • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers and select and develop new suppliers.
  • Maintain effective relationships with existing suppliers, attending social events as may be required.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental leads to understand the business and functions of the Park’s diverse teams.
  • Negotiate and manage contract terms with suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards, and delivery terms with technical and operational input from departmental leads.
  • Review contracts due for renewal, identifying alternative suppliers, their profiles, costs comparisons. Negotiate new agreements to optimise commercial terms.
  • Work with suppliers and have a process in place to measure effective performance, quality, and compliance.
  • Ensure parts are sourced in timescales to meet operational requirements.
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise the Senior Management Team and departmental leads of any impact to operations.
  • Contribute to culture change across the business by promoting the importance of supplier relationships and engage with departmental leads and colleagues to ensure this is delivered across the business.

You will:

  • Be able to demonstrate a track record of successful customer relationships.
  • Have extensive procurement experience with a track record of delivering value through contract and relationship management.
  • Be able to determine strategic and contract specific requirements across Facilities Managementservices.
  • Be able to develop, manage, and maintain strategic client relationships.
  • Have commercial and financial understanding, with demonstrable experience of working in a commercial environment.
  • Be a strong negotiator with demonstrable ability to influence.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to understand the technical requirements of our diverse portfolio and collaborate with colleagues to source, negotiate and buy goods, materials, and service to ensure operation needs are met.
  • CIPS qualified or working towards qualification and engineering industry experience is desirable but nor essential.

Discovery Park Management Ltd (DPML) supplies facilities support to the park – buildings, grounds, roads, infrastructure and communication networks. We also supply utilities to all the buildings and valuable services such as front of house, cleaning, catering and conferencing.
