Festive cheer delivered to Deal foodbank

Families in need can enjoy a tastier, healthier Christmas thanks to a donation from a local science park.

The team and tenants at Discovery Park in Sandwich have supported the Deal Area Foodbank with a specially co-ordinated donation of foods for the festive period.

In addition to the pasta, rice and cereals being delivered, thanks to collections from the innovation and business park’s tenants and catering suppliers. Festive treats, such as selection boxes and chewy sweets for children, which were donated by the site’s management and companies.

Kimberley Anderson, Discovery Park’s CSR & Skills Manager, said: “The foodbank does an amazing job and is there for local people when they need it most. We were pleased to be able to continue to work with the team this Christmas, and look forward to supporting them during 2022.”

The food supplies and parcels were delivered to Deal by the Discovery Park team on 20 December in time for Christmas.

Sheila Ward, Project Coordinator the Deal Area Foodbank, said: “We always try to focus most on children at Christmas so that they do not feel left out when with friends, and the items that Discovery Park has collected will be very happily received. We are also so grateful to receive fruit and vegetable supplies to add to the normal food distributed.

“Your donations are so much appreciated at a time when need is rising very steeply, and helps families to provide as much for Christmas as possible. Children do not deserve to be hungry!
