Ransomware attacks have spiked during the lock down period, as online activities have increased. The attackers hack into the system and take away your access to the data. You can see the files in your folders, but they will all be encrypted. So, when you open the files, they will look like garbage. The attackers typically leave a note beside the files asking you to pay them a certain amount of money. Only if you pay, you get back your access. If you do not pay, they may sell your data online on the dark web!
The payment uses methods like Bitcoins that are not traceable by the law enforcement agencies. “Prevention is better than cure”, right?
In this webinar, we will look at ways in which we can take precautions against ransomware attacks.
This 2 and a half hour webinar will include a 30 minute Q&A, followed up by a 30 minute networking session where delegates will be able to dive deeper into the topics raised.
Hosted by Dr Sanjay Bhattacherjee from the Kent School of Computing.
This is part of the business and innovation gateway teams Covid-19 Business Recovery Response Webinar Series.
