An Introduction to Inside Outside Therapy

My name is Viv Botting. I am an experienced BACP registered counsellor, and am thrilled to be part of the Discovery Park community. I am based in my Inside Outside Therapy office on the ground floor of The Gateway (next to the Great Oaks Small School) and provide professional, confidential help with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement, relationship issues and low self-esteem. I work with all individuals aged 14 plus. Our work together can be short or long-term and I offer weekly 50-minute sessions face-to-face, indoors and outside and via safe online video platforms like Zoom.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor basing my practice primarily around a person-centred approach and tailoring therapy to your individual needs. I draw on different models of counselling and a range of therapeutic methods and techniques including Walk and Talk, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, sand play and other creative approaches.

Working from a person-centred, humanistic philosophy, I believe that a good client/counsellor working relationship is at the heart of all successful therapy. I also believe that we are all born inherently good and that we have an innate desire to be the best we can be and naturally strive to grow in a positive direction. Unfortunately, life’s experiences and circumstances can sometimes hinder our ability to grow in this way and this can have a negative impact on how we feel, think and behave. I offer clients empathy, kindness, honesty, and unconditional positive regard within a safe, comfortable and confidential space. Our sessions together aim to help you develop a stronger sense of self by giving you the space and time to explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement or prejudice.

I have decades of experience working with young people and adults and have additional training in mentoring, autism, safeguarding and pastoral care. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work to their code of practice and ethical framework. I am also fully insured and hold a current DBS.

I currently have 50-minute slots available on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and can also offer a few evening sessions. For more information, including fees, please look me up at www.insideoutsidetherapy.co.uk

The decision to begin counselling can be daunting and it is important to feel comfortable with your counsellor. For this reason. I offer a free and confidential 15-minute appointment to establish whether I am the right counsellor for you and whether we are suited to working together.
