Tenants at Discovery Park asked to give blood 8 August, 2017

Businesses across Discovery Park today had the chance to find out how they can give blood and save lives.

The NHS Blood and Transplant team were on hand to answer queries, provide support and recruit new donors.

From two information stands located in both Discovery Park House reception and Innovation House reception, the team guided tenants on their nearest blood donation sessions, and booking appointments (for both new and existing donors) at their nearest blood donation centre.

The NHS team holds regular blood donation sessions in both Sandwich and Deal, making it an easily accessible option for those working busy days at Discovery Park.

The NHS need over 6,000 blood donations every day to treat patients in need across England.

Information centres, rather than blood banks, are more commonly used now due to the NHS changing the way in which they collect blood. These changes include holding blood donation sessions in a more comfortable environment and ensuring blood is used appropriately for patients in hospitals.

The NHS Blood and Transport team manage blood and platelet donation, and organ, stem cell and tissue donation and transplantation. To find our more, visit blood.co.uk or call 0300 123 23 23.
