A residential property developer based at Discovery Park has expanded to meet growing demand for its work in building some of the South East’s most sought-after homes.
Sunningdale House Developments was set up in 2014 by David Pownceby and Sir David Kirch K.B.E as a jointly owned company. Drawing upon a combined experience of over 30 years, the directors have taken a very ‘hands on’ approach to the business and have led the project management on every single development to date.
David Pownceby says: “We have been running for four years now and, so far, it’s been an incredible success story. The business has grown by being successful in the procurement of residential development land by utilising smart design and build practices, and then being able to deliver desirable houses to the market.
“It’s been an active year of land procurement across Kent and now the South West of England, as well as ongoing projects at Sandgate, Worth, Broadstairs, St Nicholas at Wade and Maidstone.”
This success has resulted in Sunningdale House Developments – along with its partner construction company Development House Limited – expanding its team from four members of staff to 15.
David adds: “It’s been great to see the team expand as business grows. We are expecting a continued expansion throughout 2018 and look forward to welcoming new team members over the next few months.”
David and David rely on their in-house team of construction experts, along with trusted and reliable local craftsman, to produce high-quality properties of all sizes.
David says: “It’s important that we’re in close proximity to our schemes and our tradesmen. This is why Discovery Park has proven such a fantastic location to base our company. The site is ideally located for the commuting of our staff.
“In addition, it homes a number of other companies based within it and it is a really collaborative environment. We work alongside a number of other tenants in our day-to-day business. More recently, it has provided us with the ability to grow as a business within our existing space. This has been great for causing minimal disruption while we upsize offices.”
Looking to the future, the company has no plans of slowing down. David says: “We measure success by our ability to source and procure development opportunities in the right location, and to deliver and sell quality homes. Our future plans are to be positioned in the market to be delivering in excess of 250 housing units per year and be a leading regional branded house-builder.”
