Luxury villa rental company Top Villas wins at British Travel Awards 2017 1 December, 2017

Based at Discovery Park, the Kent-based company Top Villas was nominated for the hotly-contested British Travel Awards for the second year in a row – and won silver in the ‘Best Large Villa Holiday category’.

The winners were determined by members of the public who have had the past few months to cast their votes. The results were announced last night by TV comedian Jon Culshaw at a ‘winter wonderland’ themed gala dinner held in London and attended by more than a thousand travel industry professionals.

Top Villas is based at Discovery Park in Sandwich, the former Pfizer site turned business park. The company has around 30 staff in the UK, but demand for its villa rentals is now so high that it has moved to a larger office at the site, and has also opened a second office in Orlando.

Headed by entrepreneurial brothers Tom and James Mannings, the holiday-homes business was born in 2010 with just a few villas on its books. Today it rents out a worldwide portfolio of some 4,000 exclusive properties in popular holiday destinations such as Orlando, Thailand, Europe and the Caribbean.

Last year Top Villas won bronze in the same category. This year the business took home the silver trophy, but are going for gold next year.

Co-founder James Mannings, 33, said: “We are delighted to have won such a prestigious award and we take tremendous pride in striving to be the best in our industry.

“This builds on the success of last year when we won bronze in the same category and next year we’ll be going for gold!”

British Travel Awards’ chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “’Top Villas is to be congratulated on this fantastic award.

“The British Travel Awards is the largest consumer voted awards program in the world and this year more than 700,000 votes were cast by the travelling public to determine the winners.

“To win this award is truly an accolade and badge of excellence.”

James and Tom have a lot in the pipeline, and if the brothers’ business continues to expand at its current rate, realisation of their long-term plan – becoming the largest provider of luxury vacation homes in the world – may not be far away.
