Discovery Park have an exciting opening for a full time Diagnoser/Contractor who can diagnose and provide accompanying quotes for all tenant, stakeholder and landlord jobs site-wide.

Discovery Park, in Sandwich, Kent is a global leader for science and enterprise with world class laboratory and exceptional office space over a 220-acre site. We are a property provider to the Pharma, Immunology, life sciences and support business sector. Our multi tenanted site provides both office space, laboratories, warehousing and manufacturing.

We supply facilities support to all of the park – buildings, grounds, roads, infrastructure and communication networks.  We also have a team of specialists capable of creating and adapting almost any of our buildings.

We also supply utilities to all the buildings. Be it power, steam, gas, demineralised water, etc. or take it away, such as the Waste Water Treatment plant.

In addition, we provide valuable services such as security, catering and conferencing.

Supporting the Business is a diverse workforce and it is important that our people are engaged, supported, developed and effectively deployed within the business to deliver the Parks vision and enable effective day to day operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and understanding to identify the cause and effect of an assigned job and to achieve a solution
  • Manage and coordinate all assigned jobs for quoting to ensure tenants receive full quotes in a timely manor
  • Meet with tenants to build a full understanding of job requirements before diagnosing and raising quotes
  • Determine the most cost-effective fix for any jobs on site
  • Liaise with the purchasing department to ensure timely delivery of parts
  • Coordinate with departments/tech leads to collate/confirm number of job hours needed to complete works
  • Work together with the Procurement Manager to review all quotes received for contractors needed on-site, ensuring price competitiveness
  • Communicate with all stakeholders on any issues or questions regarding quotes
  • Review costs with purchasing and engineer groups to ensure the correct costs are being quoted
  • Ensure we are pricing accordingly to the market, while maintaining our margin goals (Maximising Profitability) by reviewing: current cost, historical sales (for all customers), and market data
  • Review and process all quotes within 48 hours, with the exceptions of new configurations, new parts numbers or contracts
  • Understand operational requirements and prioritise work accordingly
  • Expedite requests that are business critical
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with key customers
  • Work with the team to build new processes and procedures to maximise productivity
  • Liaise with our stakeholders after works have been completed to obtain final sign-off and approval in readiness for invoices to be raised
  • Expediate requests that are business critical
  • Understand key requirements and prioritise work accordingly
  • High level planning skills, ability to plan/prioritise workload to ensure effective business operations

Core Competencies

  • Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Aptitude to learn new software programs
  • Proficient in organising and assembling estimates
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly competent in communicating with staff, managers and tenants across a multitude of disciplines
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to give accurate information for quoting works
  • Previous experience working with engineers and external contractors, with the ability to obtain relevant technical information from colleagues
  • Ability to read building drawings and understand office designs, and how services might impact works needed within a specific demise
  • Technical competence to correctly diagnose works on a multi-tenanted site incorporating science and manufacturing companies
  • Proficient in organising and assembling estimates
  • High multitasking and prioritisation abilities
  • Good presentation and negotiation skills
  • Outstanding adaptability to new ideas and approaches


  • Experience of diagnostics within Property Management or Facilities Management
  • Proven experience of work across teams and disciplines to achieve results
