From our annual Golf Classic to glittering balls and thought-provoking sleep-outs, Discovery Park does all it can to support charitable causes, including our official charity of the year.

Your simPal is our main charity for 2017, an amazing new service which connects people living with cancer. There’s more detail on their work in the list of stories below.

They follow on from homeless charity Porchlight in 2016 and Pilgrims Hospices in 2015, successfully raising thousands of pounds and awareness of some amazing local projects.

Whether it’s organising fundraising events, donating surplus furniture to local schools, or providing support to charity events organised by tenants here on site, we try to help wherever we can.

James Tredwell Testimonial 2017

Discovery Park were delighted to support this great day of community cricket organised by Sandwich Town Cricket Club.

The event held at the Dynamic Butts ground in Sandwich, included a Champagne Moment – sponsored by Discovery Park – awarded to Zack Fagg for his spectacular catch.

Charity Golf Day 2017

Discovery Park’s annual charity golf day brought companies from across the site together once again for a day of good natured competition, in aid of an amazing local cause.

The event took place on Thursday, 20 July, at Prince’s Golf Club in Sandwich, with 12 teams tee-ing for victory on the famous championship course, in aid of Your simPal, Discovery Park’s charity of the year.

Young mascot designer is leader of the pack

Louise Crean had the perfect end of term present to begin the summer holidays with her classmates at Sandwich Junior School joining in the fun after winning a charity mascot competition supported by Discovery Park,

The youngster’s colourful tortoise design is the new mascot for Your simPal, the charity service which keeps people living with cancer and their families connected.

Discovery Park selects simPal as its charity of the year

Discovery Park is delighted to announce that simPal – the innovative mobile phone service that keeps people living with and affected by cancer, connected with friends and family –  is our 2017 charity of the year.

The charity’s aim is to help lessen the social isolation, loneliness and financial pressure  felt by many when affected and living with cancer. simPal provides these people with free calls, texts and data, and a mobile phone, if required.

Big Sleep Out 2016

Discovery Park spent a night under the stars in aid of Kent homeless charity, Porchlight with sponsorship from the event helping to raise more than £10,000.

The Big Sleep Out took place on Friday, 14 October 2016 in the comparative luxury of the recently refurbished Gateway Courtyard, but with few home comforts, giving those braving the chill an insight into life on the streets.

Martha Trust Prom

In 2016 we sponsored The Martha Trust Prom, a glittering event held in the grounds of The Salutation in Sandwich, that raised thousands of pounds for a great cause.

The Martha Trust provides lifelong care for those with learning and physical disabilities. Guests were treated to a host of local musicians plus family activities. Fundraising activities included a tombola and a charity auction.

Supporting Martha Trust

Supporting Pilgrims Hospice

In 2015, Discovery Park raised nearly £40,000 for Thanet’s Pilgrims Hospice.

Events throughout the year culminated in a charity ball, raising a fantastic amount.

The money raised helped to achieve a target of funding a nurse for a year.
