Discovery Park supports Martha Trust’s 30th anniversary 4 September, 2017

Discovery Park in Sandwich has pledged their support of Martha Trust for a 3rd year running to mark Martha’s 30th anniversary.

Fundraising and Events Officer for Martha Trust Kerry Rubins met with Corporate Relations Manager Kimberley Anderson and it was agreed that Discovery Park would not only support their forthcoming Charity Golf Day at Princes Golf Club on October 5th with an auction prize, they would also sponsor Martha’s Christmas Fayre at The Guildhall in Sandwich on Saturday November 18th and the annual Christmas Raffle with prizes.

Kerry has also been invited to give a presentation about Martha Trust to the tenants at Discovery Park on September 27th to engage future support of the charity. Kerry will also be having monthly pop up sessions for the remainder of the year in Innovation House, next to the café. This will give businesses and individuals a chance to chat with Kerry about the charity.

Kerry said:

“On behalf of the residents and staff at Martha, I would like to say a huge thank you to the new owners at Discovery Park and Kimberley Anderson for their pledged support and for giving us the opportunity to potentially reach out to the wider audience of the tenants in Discovery Park to engage future support of our charity.”

“At Martha, we pride ourselves on transforming the lives of the people we support. Adults with profound disabilities are amongst the most vulnerable in society, and need be nurtured and supported in a safe, loving environment, something we are very proud of offering at Martha.

“Although the nursing care we provide is funded by local authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups through their duty of care, we rely on the support of individuals and local organisations to keep Martha Trust operating and maintained and to enable the extras that make the difference between giving supportive, holistic care and just minding someone – the very worst cases of which too regularly make the news. At Martha, 87p in every pound of our income goes to the care of the people we support.

“2017 marks Martha’s 30th anniversary. And its thanks to the continued support and generosity of our supporters, that we are where we are today.”

Kimberley Anderson, Corporate Relations Manager at Discovery Park, said: ““Discovery Park are delighted to support Martha Trust.  I am awed by the tireless work of this charity who endeavour to provide the resources needed to transform the lives of these wonderfully special but vulnerable individuals. Kerry Rubin, Martha’s Fundraising Manager, and the Team make this happen. I hope Discovery Park can help raise awareness of the charity and others come on board to support.”
